In 2021, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Little Prince turned 75 and Deyrolle turned 190! On June 29, 2021 – the date of the “International Little Prince Day” – a major exhibition celebrating these 75 years was inaugurated at the Château de la Bourdaisière: “Dessine-moi ta planète, l’écologie racontée aux grandes personnes par les enfants, ou comment agir pour une écologie positive”. A sensory, educational and ecological journey which, through the values cherished by the Little Prince and Deyrolle, invites children and adults alike to consider the virtues of positive ecology.
An exhibition to tell a new ecological story
The first edition of this major anniversary exhibition, ” Dessine-moi ta planète ” (Draw me your planet ) ran from June 29 to November 15, 2021. Conceived and produced by Deyrolle in the park, gardens and cellars of the Château de La Bourdaisière, this exhibition-parcours is a voyage of initiation through 10 stages inspired as much by the work of Saint-Exupéry as by the language and commitments of Deyrolle. .
The 10 steps 1. nature is an adventure ; 2. the unexpected ; 3. ; 4. Wildlife ; 5. Time ; 6. Cultivating your garden ; 7. Water ; 8. The social link ; 9. Space ; 10. The Imaginary.
An edutainment experience
Taking care of our planet and taking care of mankind are the issues at stake in this exhibition of ten experiential and educational stages , combined with a metaphorical and philosophical dimension. ” Draw me your planet ” is a journey, each adventure a new page to discover and a planet to visit, with the soul of a child. Through an accompanying educational booklet, visitors of all ages are invited to work together to imagine actions that will help them reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to a more reasonable world. This exhibition, designed for children and grown-ups alike, reflects the shared values of the Little Prince and Deyrolle, and invites visitors to think about the world of tomorrow.
The historical and natural setting of Château de la Bourdaisière for a sensory, educational and ecological journey
The 10 key stages of this journey
- Nature is an adventure is about becoming aware of our tangible and intangible heritage, and of the uniqueness of the region we live in and visit. This stage is illustrated by a cabinet of curiosities on Touraine gastronomy;
- L’Inattendu deals with adaptation (as a biological principle) to powerful moments, whether beautiful or disturbing, and trains us in an exercise in resilience;
- The Common House is the Oikos in the sense of the community in which we live, for which we feel responsible for everything it possesses, driving us here to seek a smaller carbon footprint, a frugal lifestyle, an economy of resources ;
- Wildlife allows us to measure the complexity of ecosystems where part of the living chain lives;
- Time, as friend and foe of our lives, is presented as the metronome of our belonging to a world in motion;
- Cultiver son jardin invites us to understand the significance of pollination;
- Water is our guardian angel, our self and our mirror;
- The social bond, the element that makes up our myths, but also tells our story and creates History;
- Space brings us a new way of looking at our unique planet;
- Imagination is what allows us to dream and design another path, with the respect we need to preserve and pass on…
